How to Install Expert Advisor on MT4
What is an Expert Advisor?
An Expert Advisor is a software program that runs on MT4 to automatically open and close trades based on predefined rules. Pakistani traders use EAs to trade 24/5 without manual intervention, which is ideal for those with full-time jobs. However, not all brokers allow EAs, so you must check your broker's policy.
Step 1: Choose a Broker That Supports EAs
Before installing an EA, ensure your broker permits algorithmic trading. In Pakistan, popular brokers like Exness, IC Markets, and FBS allow EAs on MT4. Look for brokers that accept local deposits via JazzCash, Easypaisa, USDT TRC20, or Skrill. Also, check if they offer Islamic (swap-free) accounts, which are common among Pakistani Muslim traders.
Step 2: Download the EA File
Get the EA file from a trusted source like MQL5 Marketplace or a verified developer. The file will be in .ex4 (compiled) or .mq4 (source code) format. Avoid downloading from random websites or Telegram groups, as they may contain malware. For Pakistani traders, it's wise to scan the file with antivirus software before installation.
Step 3: Install the EA in MT4
Open MT4 and go to File > Open Data Folder. Navigate to MQL4 > Experts and paste the EA file there. Restart MT4 completely. The EA will now appear in the Navigator panel under 'Expert Advisors'. Drag it onto a chart, set your parameters, and enable AutoTrading (the green play button). For Pakistani traders, ensure your VPS (if used) is located near the broker's server to minimize latency.
Step 4: Test the EA on a Demo Account
Never run an EA on a live account without testing. Use a demo account for at least 2-4 weeks to see how it performs under real market conditions. Pakistani traders should also test with the broker's server to account for any delays. Adjust settings like lot size and risk percentage based on your capital—start with small amounts.
