What is a MAM Account in Forex
What is a MAM Account?
A MAM (Multi-Account Manager) account is a specialized forex trading account that enables a single trader (the manager) to trade on behalf of multiple investors. Each investor retains ownership of their individual account and can deposit or withdraw funds independently. The manager allocates trades proportionally based on each investor's account size.
How Does a MAM Account Work?
In a MAM account structure, the manager places one trade, and the system automatically copies it to all linked investor accounts according to their allocation percentages. For example, if a Pakistan trader invests 500,000 PKR and another invests 250,000 PKR in the same MAM pool, the first trader receives twice the trade size of the second. This proportional allocation ensures fairness and transparency.
Why MAM Accounts Matter for Pakistan Traders
For Pakistan traders who lack the time or expertise to trade actively, MAM accounts provide access to professional money managers. Many brokers offering MAM accounts in Pakistan also support Islamic (swap-free) accounts, which is crucial for Muslim traders. Additionally, high leverage options (up to 1:500 or more) are common, allowing managers to maximize returns with relatively small capital.
Real Example in PKR
Suppose a MAM account manager in Pakistan has three investors: Investor A deposits 1,000,000 PKR, Investor B deposits 500,000 PKR, and Investor C deposits 250,000 PKR. The manager opens a trade worth 1% of the total pool (17,500 PKR). Investor A gets 10,000 PKR of that trade, Investor B gets 5,000 PKR, and Investor C gets 2,500 PKR. Profits and losses are distributed in the same proportion.
