What is Forex Trading
Forex trading involves exchanging one currency for another at an agreed-upon price. The market is the largest and most liquid financial market globally, with a daily turnover exceeding $7 trillion. For Eritrea traders, this liquidity means you can enter and exit positions quickly, even with smaller trade sizes. Currency pairs are quoted in two prices: the bid (sell) and the ask (buy). The difference between them is the spread, which is the broker's commission. For example, if the EUR/USD pair is quoted at 1.1050/1.1052, you can buy at 1.1052 and sell at 1.1050. Your profit or loss depends on the direction the market moves after your trade. Leverage is a key feature of retail forex trading. A broker may offer leverage of 1:50 or 1:100, meaning a $1,000 deposit can control a $50,000 or $100,000 position. While leverage amplifies profits, it also magnifies losses, making risk management essential. In Eritrea, where access to traditional banking may be limited, forex trading offers an alternative way to participate in global financial markets. You can trade from home using a computer or smartphone, with an internet connection. The most commonly traded pairs include EUR/USD, GBP/USD, and USD/JPY, all of which involve the USD. Understanding how to read a forex quote, calculate pip values, and use stop-loss orders is crucial for success.
